Since it seems it is crucial for you to be able to maintain and keep the laptop alive as much as possible I would look closely on how different brands offer support.

Of course it is nice to get a working laptop that has no problems but lets face it.. it's just tech. :) Any hardware can (and most likely will if you count on it) break so make sure you have good support to get the laptop fixed asap.
