Every good brand manages the odd lemon and every bad brand manages the odd success story. I've got an Acer and my biggest complaint against it was the factory reset partition being all I was given in the event a reformat was required (long since fixed). People have problems with Acers. I have had zero with mine. While, My old HP/Compaq had two HDD failures in 12 months. It really comes down to the individual model. Look at the Qsimo. Toshiba Laptop, not made by Toshiba: Loads of issues. I settled on my current laptop not because of the brand but because of the model. Also, the extra 2 years warranty helped. It A: says something about the manufacturer's confidence in the product and B: gives me peace of mind for its useful lifetime.
