We don't have that many macintosh users at work, but as far as I know, those that we do have have NEVER reported a hardware failure issue.

And there was a time when I was asked to destroy the hard drive of an old mac before throwing it away... I took it outside and threw it at concrete repeatedly, then stuck it back in the computer to make sure it was destroyed and IT STILL BOOTED NORMALLY.

Small sample size here, so I'm not sure I can draw any meaningful conclusions... but, for those who've seen more of this part of the computer world, are macs less likely to suffer hardware failure/built with better-quality parts?

And if so, then is the current state of Linux distros for Apple hardware "cool! I can make it run Linux!" or are they really usable?
