| She was smart enough (vicious enough?) to get elected to the governorship of a state, after all.
What she is, though, is unreasoning. There's an excellent deconstruction of what Palin ismay be over at Salon. Here it is. A salient point: The very thing that appalls us about Sarah Palin -- her discomfort in the realm of reason -- is her main selling point. This is so mind-boggling that you have to take a minute to let it in. Take a deep breath. Read that sentence again. Face it: Sarah Palin represents what many people want: a retreat from reason; a regression to childhood.
There are a number of people I've met who subscribe to this behaviour, online and in Realspace, and they've all burned up any remnant of respect I've ever had for them. I'm not a fan of power-seekers or authoritarianists. |
