although a colossal waste of funding given that: - the Marshall Plan was soaking up money in a better cause - WW2 showed that battleships were mostly obsolete. However, yes, it would have been cool to have seen one and for the US to float it around to show the flag in an impressive manner (although the modern nuclear carriers are pretty flash, too).
