In politics and economics I agree with that very much. But in the social ones there sometimes is a point to doing something together.

EG anyone can eat turkey, drink beer and dance around a tree alone just as efficiently as together with their family. But no one would consider that a good argument against getting together for christmas. Doing stuff together has a value, and often that value is greater than the value of the stuff you get done.

Also, if you get together with your friends to do one thing you might come up with something better that you would never have thought of if each of you were alone.
