NetGear Sux! <rant mode = on> by Hieraco 2008-10-01 04:21:22
close to 1TB of my movie files were backed up to my Netgear SC101T network storage box before I did a nuke & burn on my desktop. I checked everything, all the files were intact and read able.

After reinstalling my OS, AV, and other essential utilities, I installed the NetGear management software. It recognizes the network connection to the movies drive, but it won't mount the drive. The other 1Tb drive with my photos and music mounts O.K. but when I try and mount the Movies drive I get a `No Drive Found' error.

To make matters worse, Netgear uses a proprietary file system so I can't just toss the drive in a computer and copy the files. to another disk. I fear that I may have lost months of work copying my VHS movies to disk. Fortunately all my home movies of the kids and cats and vacations were stored on a seperate disk that is NTFS formated.

Whats the point of making a back up, if it is unreliable and unrecoverable?
