On most 32-bit operating systems, it doesn't really matter how much larger than 4 GiB it is (In fact on Windows > ~3.5 GiB is pretty bad).... You can't address more than that in a single process. I don't beleive you can page that at all on XP or older. Even Linux (on i386, anyway) doesn't like doing it with less than 1-processor-than-4-GiB (and has a 64GiB upper limit).

From memory, the only mainstream operating system that really supports addressing above the processor/bus bit limit is MVS.
