OT: LHC site hacked! by morenna2008-09-15 15:12:30
Why. The. Heck. by UGuardian2008-09-15 16:31:14
It was just a webserver. No big deal. (n/t) by RetiQlum22008-09-15 16:46:41
That one was, but... by UGuardian 2008-09-15 17:07:19
quote: "Scientists working at Cern, the organisation that runs the vast smasher, were worried about what the hackers could do because they were "one step away" from the computer control system of one of the huge detectors of the machine, a vast magnet that weighs 12,500 tons, measuring around 21 metres in length and 15 metres wide/high."

Why is that "one step away" system connected to a network that is connected to the outside? Methinks important stuff should have no connection with the outside world, even indirectly.
