One could say that the brick isn't relevant by MatthewDBA 2008-09-15 11:28:29
But I'm trying to use it to illustrate the difference between "inside" and "outside" in general. I'm not looking for an answer about how to tell if the surface you see is manufactured.

Certainly a brick (whether broken or not) has an inside, and an outside - at least, that's how we think of three-dimensional objects in general. But where, exactly, *is* the outside, and how do you distinguish the outside of an object from its inside?
