He (or a member of his family) is almost always at home and they live in the ground floor, right next to the entrance to the house. (Yes, it's a big house with many flats). So the postal services find someone to drop the packet off at.

DHL once delivered something to me (where I had to pay fees at receiving) at sometime in the afternoon, when nobody was home. I had two possibilites: call them and arrange delivery at another day in a timespan of my choice or drive about 30-40 km to somewhere else to pick it up. I called them and arranged for a delivery in the latest timespan and luckily I was home before the postman. But that day both my husband and me virtually ran home to be there before the postman.

I never got anything from TNT.
