| No. Yes. I'm sure. Maybe. It depends. |

No. It is neither morally nor legally "okay" to sneak in - it does not conform to the norms within our contemporary social milieu - and individuals who do so risk sanction.
Yes. Within every social milieu, there are those who reject social norms - for reasons ranging from sociopathic indifference to enlightened altruism.
I'm sure. That a good experienced promoter would say "this venue is full of holes, we have to figure on about a hundred more bodies in here come show time - because the Fire Marshall will come in and count heads and shut us down if we don't. No, we can't plug the holes, the Fire Marshall will shut us down for locking doors."
Maybe. "Baked Goods" could start a normative function of its own.
letting folks in for free if the show isn't sold out... selling all the tickets cheaper so more can go... establish a subculture where such behavior is both unnecessary and highly disdained by the subgroup most active with the band (the "Baked Heads") resulting in self regulation and cohort bonding.
Basically, it' more important to build the success of the band and do everything you can to discourage such behaviours (note the fancy Canadian spelling) while accounting for the fact that there will always be a small percentage of scumbaagios and scallywags in any crowd. And occasionally, one or two dangerously delusional people (don't introduce them - it's just not a good idea). And plenty of simple-minded totally clueless dreamers as well.
It Depends. On who you're asking, when you ask it, why you ask it, how you ask it and whether or not you're willing to get your azkicked by asking it. :-)
So I guess the short answer is no, I personally don't think it is. |
