in the future, which you do approve of, instead of the "crap" that you don't approve of. You encourage them by paying for the stuff that you *do* want. If they see that they're making money from the stuff that you like, then they'll do more of it. If, on the other hand, everyone thinks like you and downloads the compilation CD without paying for it, they're highly unlikely to produce anything similar in the future. You end up losing out.

By the way, your attitude about music you don't like being crap reminds me of an old George Carlin routine...."Have you ever noticed how everyone else's stuff is s4, but all *your* s4 is stuff?"
