If a contract can be sidestepped does that make it morally acceptable to do so?

I think the argument you're offering (correct me if I'm wrong) is that if 400 people are paying for a work, and another 200 aren't, it's okay for the 200 who chose not to pay to enjoy the work anyway. Given that, what motivates the original 400 to keep paying? Eventually I suspect even the most ardent fan would stop forking over money if they learn that they're subsidizing deadbeats.

Maybe "deadbeats" isn't fair, but I can't think of a better term for someone who feels entitled to something for nothing.
