UF Philosophy Corner - Ethics by MatthewDBA2008-08-27 07:22:49
Yes, sometimes it is more ethical to lie. by adiplomat 2008-08-27 10:36:47
Here's a true example:

A man goes running by you in an obvious panic. You observe which way he went. Another man, with a loaded shotgun, runs up to you and yells "Which way did that &%*&#(* go?". Telling the truth would, for most values of this situation, be unethical.

Especially if you knew the parties involved and knew that one was chasing the other to cause him harm for allegedly fooling around with his wife. God would not thank me for sticking to the truth, there, and I believe that He also would not require me to risk my life by refusing to answer.

This happened to me.
