ATTN: College age or near College age UFies by DesertRat662008-08-27 08:00:58
I wouldn't want a device of that size forced on me by EndlessWaves 2008-08-27 10:05:22
I'd rather make my choice between a smartphone, tablet PC, netbook, ebook reader and other similar platforms and have the university's content delivered to that rather than having to carry around an iPhone as well as whatever I use.

Anyway, onto the question you asked:

As for services obviously university and course information would be nice. Phone numbers, course calender, events, maps etc. Paper versions of maps and calenders should be availible as well, they're much easier to reference on a sheet of A4 or A3 paper than on a small phone screen.

A Mathmatics program such as Mathcad as someone mentioned earlier would be nice, it would just be used for doing quick computations so it should be easy to use. I can't think of much I'd want for my computing coursed that wouldn't require a lot of typing and isn't availible online.

A videocast of each lecture might be helpful, although it should be as well as written notes. Video lectures should come automatically catagorised by topics covered and be searchable.

Being able to connect them all up to one screen/computer at one time would be nice and could make for some memorable interactive demonstrations - imagine having a game of life field being influenced by twenty people at once or an game of robot football pitting robots under the student's controls against the AIs they've designed.
