UF Philosophy Corner - Ethics by MatthewDBA2008-08-27 07:22:49
  Okay, here's a follow-up question. by MatthewDBA2008-08-27 08:48:25
Doesn't it come back to harm? by bitflipper 2008-08-27 08:52:49
Let's hit that "intent to decieve."

If I tell you something in a manner so as to decieve you, but so as to cause benefit to you as a result, or so as to protect others as a result, can that be unethical?

If, however, I decieve you knowing that the deception will result in harm, how can I justify that as ethical behavior?

Bonus question: would it be enough that I benefit from my deception of you?
