Short term evaluation indicated that lying would cause less harm. Perhaps long term evaluation indicated the same. Maybe you were leaving immediately and would evade repercussions. Maybe you are more formidable than the Gestapo and have no reason to fear them.

The other thing that comes to mind is that your model could make any error unethical. There is risk and unpredictability in all things. Is it unethical to base your actions on likely outcomes? We all make mistakes, is it wrong to be wrong?
