that you do not need to know what the text is before hand, but it would help in case all of todays languages have fallen into disuse. It would be likely that the Bible would be translated into whatever language is currently in use at that time. Language experts then would have an easier time translating the disk if they already knew what the disk text is trying to say.

If the Bible was to have vanished by that time, they would still be able to decode it, but it will probably go faster if they have a starting reference point.
