A PSA for programmers by Hieraco 2008-08-27 04:33:35
It is wonderful that you document your programs.
We are happy for you that you are able to include pop-up windows indicating problems with the software.
It would be a big freaking help if you would include two features with your error mesages;
1) The name of the program or utility that threw the error so the user know which of the 23 running programs has caused the problem.
2) Either a re-sizable window, or word wrapping and scroll bars so the user can see the full text of the error message.

I have both problems in the past hour. The first says "login failed using user name $myName" with no indication as to what program was trying to login, or what it was trying to log in to. The second, I know what the program is, but the customer support can't do anything when all I can give them is "System failed to find module H:\$User Name\program files\$company\$Softwa"

I can't get the rest of the path since the window wont' resize, I can't scroll, and I can't even figure out a way to redirect the output to a text file.

Meh. I think that today will be my I hate things Boom-de-yada rant posts.
