Skirt, trousers, for someone dressing female, either is appropriate. The major difference is if you want to look straight, put on the makeup. It's kinda expected and if you don't, people do think things. Even if you dont feel you need it. In your case though, I'd keep it simple. Eyeshadow. Lipstick. Nail varnish. Enough to say your wearing it, not enough to feel your face is behind three layers of plaster of paris. Trust me, it's enough.
