Nearly 125 years late, wireless recharging arrives by subbywan2008-08-22 08:58:19

            How's that? by Menetlaus2008-08-22 11:54:12
              It's not inverse-square, or plain inverse. by bwkaz2008-08-22 12:23:56
It is inverse square if you are far enough away by hej2008-08-22 14:25:31
Shouldn't the near version be a line, rather than by bwkaz 2008-08-22 15:43:50

a wall? The antenna isn't a large 2D surface, after all, is it? Maybe that's why the antenna's shape matters for some things.

But anyway, I'm saying "it's not inverse square" because AndyA claims that it's proportional to 1/r**4 "in the far field". I don't know for sure; I've only done a class or two of physics at college level. (That was what made me assume it was inverse square to begin with. Well, that and the fact that the MIT numbers sorta kinda matched that.)
