If you can get one of those AC current monitors as well (that go around the cable and use some form of induction to figure out how much current is flowing), that could give you a decent idea of the VA consumed by the computer, too.

But that's not necessarily needed -- you can just drop the UPS out of the picture temporarily, and see if there are still issues.
