IIRC most consumer UPSs basically have 2 separate power paths, one directly from the wall to all the outlets and the other charges the battery when power is supplied. Once the supply is cut off from the wall the inverter turns on and supplies power to the "on-battery" outlets, it is this inverter that has a capacity of 475W so as long as you weren't trying to run everything from the battery then the capacity rating shouldn't matter.
