...seems to focus more on price. What you cite is shown to support the index's argument, but that doesn't seem to be the definition of the index itself. Also, I'm leery of any figures that show average-as-mean rather than taking into account distribution- as I've already mentioned regardling the lower rungs. There are a lot of stats out there that show many people's incomes have stagnated or declined of late.
