board attached to the wall in the hallway. It has five ICs four inductors and some other components, but no batteries. Just a loop of wire coming out from one point, making a loop, and coming in at another point, both in close proximity to the bank of inductors and a filter. I suggested that it received it's power from the "antenna" and told of the KGB bug found in the Presidential Seal gifted from the Russians in the 1960's with no power supply, just an antenna that, it turns out, converted microwaves transmitted from a van nearby which powered the bug and it's transmitter.
I guess Teach wasn't familiar with Tesla's work. The irony is that the conversation took place on the day we were learning about how inductors, filters and antennas worked. Which actually convinced me on the possibility that the circuit mentioned may be what I think it is - an experiment in remote power.
Glad I read on Tesla in 6th grade. :-D |
