If it was cheaper (more affordable) ten years ago, and is not, and can not possibly be "more affordable [now] than in the past." Why not? Because ten years ago IS the past!
Trust me, lots of people cared that it took $10 (more like $15-$20) to fill a tank. Everyone did not have "tons of money" in the 1990s, .com bubble or not. As matter of fact, I changed employers in the late 1990s changing my commute from ten miles round trip to thirty mile each way. I remember (painfully) when gasoline prices moved from the $1.30/gal range to the $1.90 range. |
