Their point is that gas was ridiculously cheap ten years ago, but gas is still more affordable than it has been in the past.
Seems like a contradiction. I interpret "ridiculously cheap" as "so inexpensive as to not matter." This then conflicts with the statement that it is "still more affordable than it has been in the past." If it was "ridiculously cheap" in the past, and is now more affordable is it currently "super duper ridiculously cheap? Insanely cheap??"
If it costs more now "adjusted for inflation" than it did before, it is not cheaper. If it cost more in the past than now (again adjusted for inflation) it was not cheap then. Pick one, you can't have both (unless the cost is the same adjusted for inflation - then it is neither more nor less "affordable").
