If people remember/got accustomed to the 'cheapness' of gas ten years ago, then it would only be relatively expensive compared to what they remember. I remember when Cokes cost $4/24 cans. For some reason, that's stuck in my mind as a good price. I go to the store these days and bitch how expensive it's become at $6/24 cans (for a great sale). Seeing that price increase without considering that I make more now makes me thing it's horribly expensive. However, inflation adjusted and compared to my income, it's probably cheaper and more affordable than ever.
