I applaud it. If it is reckless abandonment, as so many here have told me it would be, then it is more likely to cause more deaths in Iraq. Considering what Petraeous said less than a month ago about how fragile the gains are, and this move against the Awakening Councils, pulling US troops out could easily reignite the civil war that the surge appears to have stopped.

I'd really love to hear from all those who claimed that it would be irresponsible for the US to pull out of Iraq - I hope to hear reassurances about how it is not irresponsible, and why it won't lead to civil war and a bloodbath.
