Gasoline really isn't that expensive by DesiredUsername2008-08-22 09:19:57

bank account.

In the 1960s many families in the USA could survive on the income from one person working one job. Today, many families struggle to get by with income from two or more jobs. My family has two full time jobs and one part time job and we are just barely squeeking by now, while three years ago we were fine with just two full time jobs.

Just three years ago I could run my car for $20 per week. In 1985 I could run my car for $10 (or less) a week. Today it costs about $80 a week. (Yes they are/were different cars, but the fuel efficiency is about the same and I bet I drive less now because the city I live in has public transportation I use to get to work everyday.)
