The fact that you may have had something akin to a peak experience (or actually had a peak experience) when first viewing an artwork does not mean you will hit that same peak the next time.

You are expecting it, and you have been "habituated" to it by your first exposure.

I'm sure I won't burst into tears the way I did when I first saw Edward Burne-Jones "The Golden Stair" in actuality, if I get another chance to see it again. Nor did I cry when I saw the enormous Renoir "Reflections on a Lilly Pond" (or whatever it's called), but it made looking at anything else afterwards a "that's nice - so what?" moment.
