If this doesn't solve the heat issue then it's likely to be a heatsink that isn't seated properly or not a heat related issue.

I've seen several posts on other forums (mostly related to overclocking) that say a passively cooled motherboard requires the additional airflow of a downward facing CPU fan or the chipset will overheat causing instability.

Looking at those video cards, they don't appear to vent outside the case, so with 4 hot plates in that case and 1-intake 2-exhaust fans (including PSU) this might be keeping the very hot GPU exhaust inside the case too long which is overheating the mobo.
