UPDATE: PC troubleshooting assistance needed by vampire2008-08-22 07:12:20
  Got a room fan? by Skelwar2008-08-22 07:46:25
Not necessarily true. Most cases are designed by merlin2008-08-22 07:48:44
But with heatpipes to cool the chipset by Menetlaus 2008-08-22 08:05:13
and a side facing CPU fan, there may not be enough airflow over the chipset heatsinks to keep them cool enough.

Most cases that I've seen aren't really optimized to push air over the mobo (but to get the air to the cpu fan which in turn pushes the air over the mobo).

Speedfan is a decent program for measuring multiple temperatures (CPU, GPU, Mobo, HDD's). IIRC my C2D (overclocked) has gotten as high as 65-70'C and my GPU is >70 under load.
