I hate dealing with banks as a corporate customer by merlin 2008-08-22 07:22:07
We have a process that uses ProComm to dial into a bank system and open a terminal session. We then download files.

Well, the server that we log into wasn't responding this morning. The modem would connect, but no data was transferred whatsoever.

So, I call their "help" desk. They ask me what software I'm using, and then tell me that they don't support ProComm and I need to call the software vendor.

I not-so-politely interrupt and tell them that it's NOT a problem with ProComm but THEIR SERVER IS NOT RESPONDING.

I spent over an hour on the phone talking to 4 different people and NONE of them even knew where to start looking to find the problem. They kept wanting our merchant ID to look at our account. I kept telling them it was immaterial as we weren't even being prompted to log in.

Not once did they ask for the phone number we were dialing or our login account information.

They finally gave me the name of another person to call and I left him a voicemail.

I just decided to try the download again and lo & behold their system is responding now and I could download the files.

I can't wait 'til we transfer the last of our merchant accounts OFF this system and to their new system. It uses straight FTP downloads.
