or at least Linux systems are the only ones that pay it any mind -- but I think it's mostly full of good ideas. And of course they weren't afraid to steal some of their good ideas from other sources, so some of their explanations are illuminating even outside of Linux. Readonly /usr is an idea that goes back further than Linux.
