Uh Oh, What did you do? (n/t) by Snate2008-07-29 14:56:25
I've been tasked with keeping track of by hadji 2008-07-29 15:17:27
storage growth on a monthly basis for 40+ volumes.

I set up a spreadsheet with some header information in each column. And now, I have a VB app that will read that header information, and populate a new row with the current date and volume size.

For Windows systems, I use the administrative share as a UNC to get the info. For Linux, I use plink to execute a df command.

But then there were our virtual machines. How could I keep track of the VMWare LUNs? Some of the virtual machines are offline, some are templates, etc. So I couldn't get an accurate picture of the VMWare LUNs by querying each virtual machine.

Then . . . THEN . . . I realized that ESX is *nix based . . . so I could use the same functions and procedures I used for our Linux systems.

My victory is now complete. Mwahahahahahahaha!
