certain types of information. For example, information concerning a pending court case should not be aired in public. Also doctor/patient communication, and lawyer/client confidentiality is important. I have no problem with that.

What it means is that information that is withheld should only be withheld on specific grounds. "Executive Privilege" is much too broad to be a valid reason for withholding information, for example. And the ability to invoke it can be used as a way to avoid the appropriate oversight. That is the kind of transparency that a claim of 'need for secrecy' should not be allowed to cloud.
