helping people just walk away, and letting the banks foreclose. I have two major problems with this. The first is ethical; you signed a contract. The second is that this increases the number of houses on the market. The banks are trying to sell them for whatever they can get, usually at a steep discount. This further depresses the housing market. My gut feel is that it's going to be at least 5 years before the housing market regains some semblance of sanity.
