-- therefore, no one (and I mean NO ONE) has any sympathy for me when patients are nasty and abusive. It's always the office's fault that your insurance won't pay. It's always our fault if you walk in 5 min late for your appointment (when we tell you to check in 10 minutes before) and we've taken the next patient who arrived EARLY. I guess we should have waited for you, so the next patient can complain that we're running late. And heaven forfend we take an emergency patient (like someone with gangrene!) because it's going to make you have to wait -- even though we call you at home and warn you we're running late and why. It's our fault that we don't open way early for you; it's our fault that the doctor takes vacations a whole two weeks a year and isn't here to be at your beck and call. And how DARE we not take your insurance, even if your insurance pays much less than Medicare. How dare we not bill them for you anyway, and take the loss. How dare we want to pay our bills on time.
The doc at THIS office doesn't drive a Mercedes (it's an 8 year old Subaru). She cares about her patients. Don't you dare abuse her; you have me to deal with if you do. But I'm not happy at all when you feel you have the right to swear at me and rant -- I just smile and take it because that's my job.
End of the rant of a very tired, heart-weary office manager, who is tired of whiny people who feel entitled to preferential treatment. And please, don't tell me your horror stories, because I'm a patient too -- when I'm not here. I understand, but I have a wider POV than most.
If you read this far, thank you. If you can dredge up some positive energy and send it this way, I love you. |
