I do so myself, too. But I usually just flip of flop, not back and forth in short intervals.

What I really hate is when the media picks on politicians (and other people) who go to the public with ideas. When they just come up with a "how about we do $THING in $WAY", not even stating that they WANT to do it that way, just that they want to think about exploring the option, and the media instantly jumps them. Most of the time not with counter-arguments but just general slaps in the politicians direction.

I think this instant media bashing contributes to much of the flip-flopping these days, since politicians focus too much on PR and to little about solving actual problems.
