| ...a tourism commercial for NZ, then all of a sudden a bunch of soldiers/sailors/airmen appear and "invade" the country. This ad brought to you by the Australian "Department of Offense." It's a bit of satire. The Aussies and Kiwis always like "taking the piss" out of each other.
Although Australia doesn't have a huge military, it's larger and better developed than New Zealand's. (Ask most any Aussie though, and they consider NZers to be brothers in arms; q.v. ANZAC Day; also, I understand NZ servicepeople are well-regarded by their Aussie counterparts.) It's a bit like the U.S. and Canada, although the disparity isn't quite as extreme. |
