Parental rights by Pyralis2008-07-10 09:25:12
"few good swats"? by Hieraco 2008-07-10 09:41:48
Usually only took the threat of a clip to the back of the head to make me smarten up.

Here in Sweden corporal punishment is against the law. You can't hit kids for any reason. This WILL NOT WORK in the US. You see, her in Sweden before they teach kids what their rights are, they teach kids about responsibility. Responsibility to their parents, to their community, to the country and to the earth. Most of the youth related problems I see here are from immigrant children who have not been brought up with a sense of responsibility. In the US the first things kids learn is their rights. What they are entitled to, and (IMO) if they learn that they won't or can't be disciplined for undesirable behavior, then that only reinforces the negative traits.
