While I don't believe that abusing a child is acceptable, I do think there is a time and a place for disciplining a child, and that the law sometimes sticks there noses where they shouldn't be poked.

When I was a kid, a few good swats from time to time were necessary to get me to listen up and pay attention. I managed to turn out just fine, and my parents not once were viewed as 'abusive parents'.
