Eat smaller meals to offset the snacks, and for best overall results for your workout, add a glass of juice with a little protein powder right before the workout, or within 10 minutes of starting the workout (in addition to the shake and banana after it). You may also consider eating the meal when you go home after the workout instead of before - still have a snack before and after the workout while you are still at the gym.
