(I am not even Canadian), but in some of the States, you can still be granted a divorce if you can show that you've attempted to contact him to serve him the papers. One method that's common is to purchase a classified ad in the newspaper(s) that serve(s) his last known address. It may increase the length of time before the divorce can become final, but you should be able to eventually get it granted. Talk to your lawyer.
