top of the trans housing, behind the cylinder bank. It engaged the spur gear through a clutch linkage passing into the trans housing. The linkage broke.

Cost to replace the linkage: $45.00

Labor to install said linkage: $935.00

Realizing that I neded to pull the engine, remove the cylinder bank, crack the case and half remove the tranny in order to install the $45.00 part: Not worth the hassle.

I sold the bike as-is...
Stupid Honda "engineers". All they had to do was put an inspection plate under the starter, but NOOOOOooooo!
