many motherboards are designed around the idea of having the power supply at the top, many power supplies are as well, thus if your PS was on the bottom it might not reach the motherboard's power socket. Power cables might not reach components near top like optical drives.

doesn't help airflow at all, most of the better power supplies have fans on the bottom to help remove air, having the PS on the bottom negates that.
