Case in point:
Driver-side rear signal light bulb replacement on a Cavalier.
The engineers cut the hole so it would be "pretty" and "symmetrical" with the passenger-side (there's a honkin' big plastic assembly covering it for Ghu sake!)

Then another engineer decided that people are stupid and made it so the bulbs are turned in the same direction to be removed.
Forgetting that it is *nigh* (nay! *IS*) impossible to release the driver-side turn signal bulb without removing the entire plastic assembly.

That and sticking an alternator behind the front passenger wheel (because that's the only spot they could think of) on a Grand Prix was pretty bad too.

I may be wrong and this is merely GM institutional stupidity.
