1. I assume your UPS also have surge suppression. Do not plug these devices in serial or attempt to use them in combination. This is not only useless, you may also hide spikes from one or both devices and prevent either device from protecting your equipment.

2. On higher end systems that use a lot of juice (games/graphics), a lot of the newer PSUs split the power across multiple rails. So, if you have high end graphics cards, as I do, these PSUs will not supply sufficient power to them and this will cause problems with your system. I had to recently upgrade my PSU for this very reason. I replaced mine with a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Watt from NewEgg because their power supplies do not split power across different rails (lines).
